Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once in a small village, there was a lake. There was a forest next to the lake. In the forest, a monkey lived on the coconut tree. The monkey was climbing up and down the coconut tree. When he got bored, he plucked the coconuts and dropped them to the ground. There was a crocodile that was his friend in the lake. One day, he gave one of the coconuts to the crocodile. The crocodile took the coconut and fed it to his wife. When his wife tasted the coconut, she asked him, "Where did you get this fruit?" He said, "My friend monkey gave it to me." She said, "This fruit is so tasty. The monkey that eats this fruit every day must be incredibly delicious. His heart would be so tasty! If the fruit is this good, I can't even imagine how delicious the monkey's heart would be. I want to eat the monkey's heart." He said, "How can it be possible?" However, she kept saying that every day. She said, "Even this coconut is delicious, the monkey that eats this fruit every day will be so tasty. I want to eat his heart." One day, the crocodile thought to himself, "My wife is asking for his heart every day. Maybe, I should ask the monkey about it." He was not confident to say it to the monkey. He said, "My friend monkey, we have known each other for so long. I want to invite you to my house." The monkey said, "Do you? Let's go then." They needed to cross the water to reach the crocodile's house. So, the monkey climbed down from the coconut tree and stepped onto the crocodile's back. And they crossed the water. The crocodile thought, "He is my best friend. What should I do now?" When they were in the middle of the water, the crocodile told the monkey, "My friend, do you know why I invited you to my house? My wife loves eating the coconut fruit that you gave me. Then she wants to eat your heart. That's why I'm bringing you here." The monkey was shocked and scared, but he didn't show it. He said, "Oh, really? She can eat me." He didn't express his feelings. And he said, "But I have a favor to ask. This morning, I hung my heart atop the coconut tree. We need to go get my heart. Send me back to the coconut tree first to go get my heart." The crocodile said, "Okay." And they went back to the coconut tree. As soon as they arrived on the ground, the monkey quickly climbed up to the tree. He said, "My friend crocodile, you are so stupid. If I take my heart out of my body, how can I still be alive? You are so stupid!" Then the monkey went into the forest. The crocodile couldn't bring a heart for his wife and just returned empty-handed.
